General description
The application is installed on a laptop computer, connected to a projector. By utilizing the multiple desktop capability of the Microsoft Windows operating system, the application uses the main desktop for the control of the projection and a second one for projecting the titles to the audience.
Preprocessing on the text may be done in the same computer, or anywhere else, while the setup of the whole system will take place at the venue. "Supertitles" povides many tools that will help in the preparation phase, both in the text editing, and the title designing.
While the performance is taking place, the user follows the lines spoken by the actors, shows, hides and switches the predifined phrases, synchronizing the title-switching with the phrases he hears on scene. A written script is not needed, since all text (the original and the translation) are available on screen.
Since in live performances some mistakes are due to occur by the actors (a phrase might be skipped, or being spoken in a different way), the program is designed in such a way to allow the user to quickly hide the selected title, and find the correct line whereever this is in a fast and easy way.]
The application also works in an automated way, whereever this is practicable, mostly on non-live performances like films, music video clips etc.
